Tell us about your job

In any role involving account management there is a degree of building relationships. This is Rachael’s key strength and favourite part of the role. She loves networking and developing new business opportunities. Her portfolio of clients worked has grown significantly over the last five years working with brands and retailers at all levels of seniority. These include Tesco, Sainsburys, Aldi and B&M. Her most recent client is WHS whereby she works directly for the client two days per week. Rachael also enjoys working towards key goals together with her clients and ensuring they are satisfied not just with the end result but the journey to get there.

In addition, Rachael is responsible for Marketing within the Instore area. Again, this operates via a key relationship with a marketing agency where a strategy has been developed and is regularly reviewed and updated. Key campaigns are planned throughout the year to support the overall Instore business with new opportunities.

What is it like to work for Instore?

Instore is a super friendly place to work. It’s also a safe space to bounce around ideas and feels like all ideas and opportunities are fully explored. Your voice is heard and, most importantly, understood.

The account team that Rachael is part of bursts with a wealth of experience across a range of industries. And there are some substantial lengths of service in that mix.

My degree is in Marketing which included a Sports Marketing Internship in the US at Reebok. Following this I worked as a buyer for a wine company, did some teaching for 16-18 years olds and then started the journey into newspaper and magazines via Worldwide Magazine Distribution. That’s where my career really started and where both Marketing and Account Management came into play. Following this in 2010 I went onto work for Smiths News. Here I was part of the development of brands including Jacks Beans coffee which is still in operation today. Smiths News really enabled me to develop some specialisms including working with sales teams, understanding independent retailers and how to really nurture and develop relationships so that they are business smart but also enjoyable working relationships which can last a lifetime.

It was at Smiths News where I was able to be part of the start of something really special – our charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people, Pass It On. And still now I play a pivotal role in the running and developing of the charity and as always look forward to further accomplishments in this area.

What do you do in your downtime?

I love health and fitness and really enjoy running and Pilates currently. I also thoroughly enjoy weekends at home spent with my blended family including Fritz the labradoodle and the new addition of 8 beautiful hens 😊
